If you’re into 1/144 kits and have already run out of shelf space, here’s a new (and elegant) way to display them—right on your LCD screen! (TV screen also can!)
It all started with my own need to find a way to place my GQuuuuuuX on top of my monitor. I knew Blu-Tack wasn’t going to cut it, and there’s no way I’d stick double-sided tape to the feet of my Gundam. Even if I found something strong enough to hold, it would mean sacrificing posing options—and I definitely didn’t want a boring stance.
Then it hit me: what if I just mounted the kit on an action base? Problem was, how do I secure the action base to my screen?
I searched everywhere online and couldn’t find anything that worked. The closest was some tray that sits on top of a monitor, but those were clearly made for smaller toys (like blind box figures). Too small, too flimsy, and honestly… ugly. Definitely not suited for Gunpla.
That’s when I glanced at my Lego shelf and thought: why not build one myself?
After several rounds of trial and error, I finally ended up with a design I was happy with. And so, the Lego Technic Action Base LCD Mount was born!

Now, if you’re familiar with Lego, you could probably reverse-engineer this design on your own. But to save you the trouble, I decided to open-source the instructions. If you’ve got spare Technic parts lying around, here’s your chance to give them new purpose.
If you don’t have the right parts, no worries—I’ve packaged the set nicely for you, complete with the required bricks (and a few extras in case your screen is bigger). Here’s the link to buy the parts for Lego Technic Action Base LCD Mount.
Here’s the easy-to-follow step-by-step guide for putting together the Action Base LCD Mount.
