It’s been a few months, but I’m happy to announce that deltabase is accepting international orders again!
Some of you may remember that I had to suspend international shipping a few months ago. This was due to changes in how I source and fulfil orders, and I needed time to work out a new arrangement.
I didn’t want to reopen international shipping until I was confident that I could handle orders properly.
Well, the new arrangement is now in place, and the first international shipment is already on its way!
How to order from overseas
Good news! You can now shop directly on the deltabase website, just like our customers in Singapore.
Shipping fee still needs to be quoted manually like before, ie:
- Shop as usual. Browse the website and add your favourite model kits to your shopping bag.
- Proceed to checkout. Fill in your billing and shipping addresses as usual.
- Request a shipping quote. If your shipping address is outside Singapore, the checkout will show a Request for Quote button instead of the usual shipping options.
- Hear back from me within 24 hours. I’ll work out the shipping cost based on your order and delivery destination, then send you the shipping quote via email.
- Confirm the order and pay. And I will handle the rest.
No payment is required when you submit your shipping quote request.
Why do international orders need a shipping quote?
Unlike local delivery in Singapore, international shipping costs depend on several factors, particularly the size of the parcel.
Most international couriers charge according to either the actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher.
And if you’re familiar with model kits, you’ll know that a box can be big without being particularly heavy!
Rather than charge you a flat shipping fee that may be too high for some orders or too low for others, I prefer to work out the cost based on the actual items you’re ordering.
It takes a little more time, but you’ll know what you’re paying for before committing to your purchase.
The box matters, even when it’s travelling overseas
If you’ve ordered from deltabase before, you’ll know I care quite a bit about the condition of the product box.
That doesn’t change just because you’re ordering from overseas.
With our new fulfilment arrangement, international orders can be packed and shipped directly from China, without having to make an unnecessary trip through Singapore.
This helps reduce shipping costs and avoids an additional round of handling.
I’ll continue working closely with the fulfilment team to make sure your orders are packed with proper protection before they’re handed over to the courier.
Of course, international shipping involves longer journeys and more handling, so I can’t promise every parcel will arrive without a scratch. But I’ll do what I reasonably can to keep your kits safe.
