Many years ago, I visited a hobby shop for the first time.

I remember being overwhelmed by shelves and shelves of boxes. I didn’t have anything particular in mind, but I was ready to buy a box or two. I just had to decide which ones.

So I casually asked the shop owner if I could see what was inside one of the boxes before deciding.

His reply was: “You want to buy then I will open for you to check.”

My level of excitement went from this high 🫳, to this low 🫴.

I thought to myself: If I already decided to buy, I still need you to open meh?!

It was that same afternoon that I told myself: One day, I will open my own hobby shop.

That one day is today.

At BASE, I want the experience to be different.

You don’t just see shelves of boxes. You get to see the actual products on display. And instead of keeping them behind glass or acrylic, you can pick them up, pose them and experience them for yourself.

Because the younger me who stood in that hobby shop many years ago had a simple question: “When people buy mooncakes, they can sample it. When we buy toys, why can’t we test play it?!”

That question stayed with me.

Many years later, it became part of the idea behind BASE.

So when you come to BASE, you won’t have to ask the same question I did.

You can see what you’re buying. You can hold it. You can experience it. And then you decide.
